Dedication – TO SHAWN WHO INSPIRED THIS!  *smooches*
AN: Shawn challenged me to this.  Challenge was – “Picture this: Big couch, grey. Semi-dark living room. A nice cabin in the mountains. evening time - snowing outside.  Tommy holding Kim under a blanket, very affectionate - he just asked her to marry him before they left for the trip.  Write a short one-shot - dialogue only if you can - be funny and sweet.  GO!”  It also had to include: 1. Kim being happy they are finally engaged, 2. Tommy teasing her about teaching her to ski, 3 and 4 are yours.

“I love snow,” she sighed happily, her gaze on the fire crackling before them, her hands wrapped around a mug of hot chocolate.  “Makes it seem that all is right with the world.”

He couldn’t help but chuckle.  “Couldn’t tell by the way you’re all snuggled under this blanket with me or the ‘Hurry Tommy!  Light the fire!’ comments I got when we came in front outside.”

She pouted.  “I couldn’t help it; you had me out there forever.  I’m a gymnast, not a skier,” she responded.

He kissed her cheek softly and held her close.  “One takes just as much grace, balance and coordination as the other.  You can get on a balance beam, why can’t you stand on skis?”

She turned her head slowly toward him, the sparkle from the diamond on her left ring finger catching her eye and causing her to come up with a devious plan.  “Fine, go ahead and continue teasing me.  Just because you slipped this lovely little bauble on my finger doesn’t guarantee you the right to sleep in the bedroom at all during this trip.”

The smile on his face faded for all of two who seconds, before he saw the impish sparkle in her eyes and felt her tiny hands shifting her mug so she could trail her fingertips up one of his arms.  “Funny Kim, very funny,” he told her, though the serious expression melted from his face, a new one, a less confident one, replacing it.  “Are you happy?”

“I haven’t been this happy since the day you told me you still loved me,” she replied.  “I never, not in my wildest dreams, ever thought we’d be back together, let alone engaged to be married.  So yes, I’m happy.”  Her eyes bore into his as she finally worked up the courage to ask him her own question.  “Are you?”

“I’m in a beautiful cabin, it’s twilight and snowing out, I spent all day out doors trying to teach my less than graceful fiancée how to ski and now I’m snuggled up under a blanket, with her in my arms, a fire roaring, and no day or night job in sight for the next week to interrupt what I’m hoping is going to be a very passionate vacation.  So yeah, I’m all good.”

She all but melted at his words.  It was nice, to simply sit back and enjoy a quiet, peaceful vacation away from the worries of their lives.  It was even nicer that they were now engaged and their future was looking as bright as the sun had that morning when they’d hit the slopes.  Life was good.

“So, we’re getting up at six tomorrow to hit the slopes early, right?  I mean, you need all the practice you can get,” he teased her.

“TOMMY!” she growled seconds before he wiggled his eyebrows at her and sealed his lips over hers.  “I hate it when you do that,” she murmured when he pulled away.

“Hate it all you want, so long as you keep loving me, Beautiful.”

“I never stopped,” she whispered, leaning closer to kiss him again.  It was a short kiss, one full of promise, and when it was over they leaned back against the dark grey couch in the living room, listening to the fire snap and pop in the fireplace and the stars illuminate the night sky.
